Shawn Carnes is a creative/P.R professional who has worked with the most relevant people in the music industry as an artist manager, publicist, journalist and consultant. He has held an artist relations position with the Chameleon/Universal/Island Def Jam Music Group, working with notable producers Max Martin, Dallas Austin, Timbaland, Sandy Vee and Sean Garrett, who have written and produced for Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, TLC, Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj. In 2012 he founded the Nashville Underground brand, bringing light to the progressive lifestyle and the diverse genres of music that has launched out of Nashville.
Carnes assisted casting for the TV show “The Voice” (seasons 11-16) bringing 4 top 10 finalists and season 13 winner Chloe Kohanski on the show, and has also been active doing artist management. Amongst his past roster of outstanding talent, he has represented hit songwriter/producer Steven Battey (Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Madonna). They celebrated success in country music with Battey’s writing and production credits on the 2018 Luke Combs hit song “One Number Away” charting a Billboard #1 for 30 weeks and becoming the ASCAP Song of the Year in 2019.
His passion to evolve, create and work with compelling artists is what has made him stand out as a “hands on” music executive. Shawn is also an accomplished songwriter and vocalist himself, working with numerous Grammy Award winning artists, songwriters and producers over 3 decades. With his combined experience in all aspects of the entertainment and tech industries, including film and television, Shawn’s eyes and ears for talent are impeccable, bringing impactful platforms to the forefront that not only have purpose, but also prove longevity in an ever-changing industry. After taking a break from the music business in 2023, Shawn currently devotes his time to executing future technology and media ventures, which includes his current position as Director of Public and Media Relations at Harvest Solutions.
